  • Bedtime Story Evening

    Mon 18 Nov 2019

On Wednesday 13th November some of the Foundation stage children came back to school in their pyjamas for a bedtime story session. They brought their parents and the hall was set out with cosy tents, cushions and twinkling lights to give a lovely relaxed sleepy atmosphere. Everyone was treated to hot chocolate and biscuits and it was lovely to see the children sharing stories with their parents.

Miss Harrison launched a book lending scheme and spoke to the parents whilst Mrs Abbott-Lewin read to the children. It was a lovely evening and thanks must go to the Foundation stage team who organised it.

Apologies that the photographs are not brilliant - I blame the dim lights!

  • Children In Need Day

    Mon 18 Nov 2019

Once again our school was filled with colour last Friday. It was children In need day and the children looked amazing. Some were dressed in Pudsey Bear clothes and some had bright, neon clothes on. During the day the classes managed to weave Pudsey Bear into their normal lessons and cakes were sold at playtime.

It was interesting to share with the older children some of the organisations near us that have benefitted from Children In need money - it made it more real for them.

Many thanks for all the effort that parents put into the costumes and thank you for the cakes and the donations.

As of the end of Friday we had raised nearly £300.

  • Anti-bullying week

    Mon 18 Nov 2019

Anti-bullying week was a great success. Every class completed several pieces of work based around friendship and anti-bullying.  In Year 5 and 6 the children made some origami friendship bracelets and also watched a film about a girl who was bullied at gymnastics lessons - it told the story that no matter what you go through - it is really important not to give up.

Reception made a friendship banner and year 1 made a picture using everybody's hands.

Year 2 looked at bullying in the context of traditional tales and Year 3 and 4 drew a face, ripped the paper up and then put it together again - this was to show the children that bullying is there forever - you can try and say sorry but the rips always remain.

It is really important that we keep anti-bullying in the forefront of our minds. We need to give the children the tools to deal with bullying and the reasons why they should never bully anyone.

  • Gymnastics training

    Mon 11 Nov 2019

On Thursday 7th November Key Stage 2 and Reception were lucky enough to have a Gymnastics coach take a lesson for each class. Jodie taught the children several different rolls, travelling moves and balances. After school the staff also had a training lesson so that we can use some of Jodie's techniques and ideas when we next teach gymnastics.

Jodie is coming back in a few weeks to work with the children in Key stage 1.

  • Remembrance service Friday 8th November

    Mon 11 Nov 2019

We were lucky with the weather on Friday and it meant that everyone from Reception to year 6 could walk down to the Cenotaph to pay their respects. The children sang a song and the service was conducted by Rev Karen. A cornet player played "The Last Post" and all our children stood in silence for two minutes to remember people who had given their lives so that we can live in freedom.

Each class had made a poppy wreath and these were placed by the memorial for all to see.

Thank you to all the friends and family who turned out to remember with us. It was a proud day for Anthony Bek.

  • Halloween Discos

    Mon 04 Nov 2019

On Thursday 24th of October our school hall was transformed into a Halloween horror hall- there were witches, vampires and ghouls - not to mention lots of children and parents. Once again the costumes were fantastic and it was obvious that a lot of work had gone into their creation.

The costume winners were Alfie and Isobelle for Key Stage One and Foundation and Jagoda and Zack B for Key stage 2.

Have a look at how wonderfully frightening the children looked.
