  • Easter egg competition

    Tue 30 Apr 2019

This year we decided to do things differently at Easter. The children decorated an egg - but only with crayons and paints - this was because the eggs had to take part in the "Eggolympics"

Each egg was judged on appearance and then it was rolled along the ground towards a target - the closer to the middle of the target - the more points that it scored.

The next event was an "Eggsticle race" which was against the clock. Many eggs didn't make it past this point!

Lastly, the eggs were attached to a home-made parachute and dropped from a window or a ladder. The final points were given depending on how well the eggs survived the drop!

It is fair to say that the children really enjoyed the whole competition and every child who entered were given an Easter egg which had been kindly donated by a parent. The final winners for each class received another egg.

Thank you to all parents for supplying the eggs and helping to make the parachutes.

  • Key stage 2 Easter Performance

    Tue 09 Apr 2019

Last week saw the fantastic production of The Rocky Monster Show - a totally new play full of challenging songs and fantastic costumes.

Whilst Year 6 were relegated to SATs revision and recording the narrator parts, it was left to Years 3 - 5 to perform it - and perform it they did!

It was absolutely brilliant from start to finish, the main characters had so many lines to learn and the language in parts was quite technical. The staff had also worked hard to create a stunning backdrop, effective props and great lighting.

Thank you to all the children for working so hard, thank you to all the staff for the hard work they have put in and thank you to all parents and friends for supplying costumes and supporting us at all the performances.

  • Lea Green

    Wed 03 Apr 2019

What a fabulous time we all had at Lea Green! It was great to see every child having a go at every activity that was offered to them. The most loved activities included The Ropes Course, The Zip Wire, The Obstacle Course, The Buggies and The Treasure Hunt. As the weather was amazing, the children were also lucky enough to have a picnic and some free time playing on the park and exploring the grounds. The children were an absolute credit to the school and we received numerous comments about how well mannered the children were when walking around the buildings as well as sitting at the dining tables. We loved the food, especially the lamb roast dinner. They loved it that much that most children even had seconds – we just couldn’t fill them! All children worked so hard during the day that bed time was well received by every child – within a few minutes of being in tucked up in bed, every child was settled and fast asleep without any issues at all! A big thank you to all the parents who helped their child to pack their bags, this made the children more organised and independent which enabled them more time to enjoy the activities. Hopefully your child has had chance to tell you all about their experience at Lea Green and there will be a photo disc available if you’d like to see how much fun they had! ,

  • Sportshall Athletics

    Wed 03 Apr 2019

This week Mrs Johnson and Miss Appleton took our year 5/6 team to the County finals of the Sportshall athletics competition. To reach this stage of the competition is a fantastic achievement in itself and we were competing with schools that had over 600 pupils in them.

The children tried really hard and did their absolute best - they were unrelenting and even when they were not in the lead, they never gave up and supported each other brilliantly.

Everyone had practised hard before hand and on the day, despite not winning a medal, they all enjoyed themselves.

Well done to all the team and coaches.

  • Choir trip to London

    Wed 03 Apr 2019

It was a coach full of excited children who set off down the motorway for a fun-packed two days of singing and activities. Before we were even at the M1 the DVD was playing and we were happily munching on brioches kindly provided by all the fundraising.

We dropped our bags off at the scout camp and then continued on to Wembley arena. There were gasps of amazement as the children saw how big the arena was and the afternoon was spent practising the songs, getting autographs from boy bands and having photographs taken.

The actual concert was amazing and it was lovely to see that so many parents and family had made the journey down to support us. It was a very proud moment when our banner was paraded around the arena and our name was read out.

The children sang and danced all evening and loved every minute of it. the staff were so proud to be part of such a wonderful event.

We got back to the Scout camp about 11.15pm with a coach full of very sleepy children (and adults) - bedtime was easy as everyone was so tired!

On Thursday the children took part in some activities (see photos) and then we set off home.

It was really nice to take children of all ages and to see how they looked after and supported each other.

have a look at the photographs which show what a wonderful time we all had.
